The World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW), commemorated annually from 18 to 24 November, is a WHO global campaign to raise awareness and increase understanding of AMR and to promote global action to tackle its emergence and spread. This year’s theme for WAAW was “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future.”
World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) 2025 serves as a vital reminder of the ongoing global challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the critical need to protect the effectiveness of lifesaving medicines. Each year, WAAW emphasizes a straightforward but urgent message: preserving antimicrobials is a responsibility shared by all.
Globally, conversations during WAAW highlight the importance of strong healthcare systems, early detection, and coordinated action. Combating AMR isn’t just about developing innovative treatments—it’s about ensuring these solutions reach the people who need them most, from hospitals to vulnerable communities around the world.
Collaboration remains at the core of effective AMR response. By uniting policymakers, clinicians, researchers, and patients, we can create sustainable, equitable strategies that make a tangible difference.
At RaDAR, we are actively contributing to this global effort by strengthening Europe’s capacity to detect and control AMR. Through collaborative procurement of innovative solutions, we demonstrate how regional cooperation can accelerate the adoption of tools that enhance patient safety and protect public health.
