Sysmex is a worldwide active company with a large experience in the IVD market. We cover different sectors, as haematology, coagulation, urinalysis and cancer management, among others. AMR fighting is a very well known field to Sysmex, as our portfolio already includes some solutions to target this goal.
We recently expanded our Point-of-Care (POC) portfolio by adding a novel technology to provide a POC solution for the diagnostics of urinary tract infections (UTI). By combining nanofluidics, contrast phase microscopy and our expert software, we can offer a tool that can operate outside of the microbiology laboratory.
We participate in the RaDAR project by offering our PA-100 POC analyser, which delivers bacteriuria results within 15 minutes and a phenotypic AST within 30 to 45 minutes. The analyser works with fresh, native urine and does not require any further infrastructure or microbiology knowledge to be operated. The expert software provides an antibiogram for five different antibiotics that represents a direct support for the diagnostic and therapeutic decisions in a near patient setting.
By introducing this analyser, Sysmex aims to enhance the quality of UTI diagnostics at the point of need, by providing fast AST results. This will provide diagnostic information to guide antibiotic prescription and avoid empiric treatment. With this, Sysmex aims to strengthen its commitment to the fight against AMR.
